Love is in the air – ARC+ wedding on Beyond I

The ARC+ fleet was treated to a truly unforgettable moment on Saturday, 6 December, when Beyond I, the Hungarian Windelo 50 catamaran, became the setting for a wedding unlike any other. After thousands of miles of ocean sailing, the boat made landfall at Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina in Grenada, marking the successful completion of the ARC+ rally and setting the stage for a deeply personal celebration awaiting those on board.

Owner-skipper Endre, who has shared many adventures at sea with his longtime school friend and crew member Botond, had an additional reason to look forward to landfall. Botond’s fiancée, Edit, had flown across the Atlantic to meet the crew in Grenada - ready to turn the end of a voyage into the beginning of a marriage. Their reunion on the dock was filled with emotion, the joy of completing the rally blending seamlessly with the growing anticipation of the ceremony that awaited them on board.

As the warm Caribbean afternoon unfolded, Beyond I was transformed for the occasion. White tropical flowers were draped along the guardrails and arranged around the cockpit, their fragrance mixing with the salty breeze. The late sunlight cast a golden shimmer across the anchorage, and a faint rainbow arched delicately above St George’s - as if the island itself was offering its blessing.

Surrounded by the crew and a small circle of family, the couple stood together on deck while Endre, both friend and skipper, officiated the ceremony. Waves tapped softly against the hull while they said their vows, exchanged rings, and marked the start of their life together.

Once the final words were spoken and cheers rose from the gathered friends, the celebration moved into a lively onboard reception. A beautifully prepared wedding feast awaited - an impressive feat after an ocean crossing - with champagne flowing, toasts, laughter, and stories filling the air well into the night. Deck lights reflected on the water as the newlyweds celebrated their union, surrounded by the ARC+ community and the friends who had shared the journey with them. 

It was a wedding woven from adventure, friendship, and the magic of the sea, and one that will surely be remembered long after the rally’s end.
