Recommended training package for rally participants 

Many rally crews choose a core set of safety and medical training before departure: 

• RYA First Aid (valid for 3 years) 
• RYA/ISAF Offshore Safety Course (valid for 5 years when completed with RYA Sea Survival) 
• RYA Sea Survival 

An in-date ISAF certificate is usually only required for official races such as RORC. However, completing it is highly recommended for offshore cruising safety. 

Specialist courses 

We run several courses that are particularly valuable for offshore sailors. We highly recommend Yacht Maintenance and Meteorology courses which run four times per year. 

• Yacht Maintenance A five-day long course to learn how to troubleshoot and repair key systems on board, including rigging, diesel engines, plumbing, yacht electrics and sail repair 
• Meteorology A two-day course covering weather patterns, pressure systems, and forecasts—essential for offshore route planning and safety. 
• Medical First Aid at Sea and Medical Care On Board Ship These are high level medical courses to equip sailors with the knowledge and skills to care for sick and/or injured crew when help may not be close to hand.  

 Our role in the World Cruising Club community 

We’re proud to support the WCC community throughout the year, and you’ll find us at: 

• Las Palmas for the ARC and ARC+ safety demonstration - this includes a flares demo and a life raft session in the pool.   
• Ocean Sailing Weekend – where we talk all-things safety. 
• Bluewater Open Day – where we run hands-on demos and answer training questions.
