The most popular sailing rallies
Most sailors join a World Cruising Club rally for the reassurance and peace of mind that comes with a well-organised event, the camaraderie of like-minded adventurers, and the sheer joy of sailing alongside a fleet of fellow cruisers.
Whether you’re an experienced ocean sailor or setting out on your first big passage, the rally offers unforgettable fun and challenges. Many choose to return year after year, having sailed thousands of miles with us. Whether you’re a familiar face or a newcomer, we’re here to support you every step of the way, ensuring your journey is truly unique.
World Cruising Club rallies are open to all kinds of boats — sail or motor, monohulls or multihulls — whether you’re sailing with just two people or a full crew. Families, retirees, students, remote workers, anyone who loves the sea and wants a real ocean adventure is welcome.
Boats need to be at least 8.23m (27 feet) or 12.19m (40 feet) for the World ARC, and there should be at least two adults onboard.
Most of our rallies include a fun competitive element to celebrate sailing skill and seamanship. We use a handicap system based on boat size and design to create fair competition among similar boats. But remember, these are cruising rallies—not ocean races—so it’s all in good spirit and for enjoyment.
The ARC is a bit different because it features a ‘race within the rally.’ Yachts with an IRC racing handicap can compete under official Racing Rules of Sailing. This racing division is especially popular with boats planning to join Caribbean regattas.
ARC
Gran Canaria direct to Saint Lucia
ARC is the original ocean cruising rally, sailing from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay in Saint Lucia every November.
ARC+
Gran Canaria to Cape Verde then Grenada
ARC+ sets sail every November from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, calling at Cape Verde before heading across the Atlantic to Grenada.
World ARC
Circumnavigation from Saint Lucia or Australia
World ARC is a 15-month, 26,000NM rally around the world, starting every January in Saint Lucia. Yachts can join for half a rally to or from Australia.
ARC Europe
Atlantic west-to-east via Bermuda & Azores
ARC Europe sails west-to-east across the Atlantic from the Caribbean and US to Bermuda and then to the Azores, before finishing in Lagos, Portugal.
ARC Baltic
Summer cruise around the Baltic Sea
ARC Baltic visits five countries in 1,000NM of sailing over a summer month. Starting in Kiel in July, the rally visits Denmark, Sweden, Estonia and Finland.
ARC Portugal
Across Biscay to cruise the Iberian coast
ARC Portugal cruises across the Bay of Biscay from the UK, then day-sails down the Iberian coast to conclude in Lagos, Portugal
